Wolf’s Moon Howl Hot Chocolate

Straight from the DFAC of the Anima Corps, this hot chocolate is the go-to comfort after long missions fighting demons. Thick, rich, and just a little bit wild, it’s the perfect way to warm up after the dust settles and the gear’s stowed. Whether you’re back from recon or looking to channel that battle-worn coziness, this is the kind of drink that says: “You made it. You’re home. Rest easy—until the next mission.”

Serves 2

Ingredients

1 cup (238 g) whole milk

1 cup (238 g) heavy cream

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 cinnamon stick

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch cayenne powder, more for garnish

4 ounces (113.4 g) dark chocolate baking bar, roughly chopped

Mini marshmallows

Instructions

1. Use kitchen shears to cut four marshmallows in half, diagonally; these will be fangs.

(Note: The best way to do this is by placing your marshmallow flat-side-down on a stable

surface and cutting diagonally down from the top.) When you split the marshmallow in

half, you should have two wolf fangs.

2. Combine the milk, heavy cream, sugar, cayenne, and cinnamon stick in a small

saucepan, and place on the stovetop over medium heat.

3. When the milk reaches scalding point (180°F / 82°C), remove from the heat and remove

the cinnamon stick. Add in the chopped chocolate and vanilla, and whisk until the

chocolate is melted and smooth.

4. Top with whipped cream, sprinkle with cayenne, and add marshmallow fangs.
